Sheep
Exlana sheep
Sheep will be a vital part of our system. They will be used for:
Keeping the grass low around our establishing trees
Controlling aggressive unwanted plants such as brambles
Regenerating our pasture through rotational or 'mob' grazing
Providing a nutritious source of protein. Efficiently converting the strong spring photosynthesis of grass into high energy food. In our climate you can harness the suns energy more efficiently by grazing ruminants on perennial plants rather than growing high protein plants. As an example if we tried to grow soy beans here by the time they are germinated and starting to photosynthesis properly it will already be past the summer equinox. Effectively wasting months of high energy sunlight. Whilst grass is already established in early spring, requires little maintenance and never lets the soil be exposed.
Proving the project with a income source by selling Lamb boxes. We will also use the Hoggets for our Lamb Asado company
